BASCC membership is not required for any outreach service. To schedule an appointment, register for a tour, or more information about the following services, call the BASCC Outreach Department at 248-203-5270 between 9 am and 4 pm Monday through Friday.
INFORMATION AND REFERRAL
Information and referral service is provided to seniors and their families in the following areas: general geriatric counseling, housing, in-home health care options, the Meals-on-Wheels program and prescription coverage options.
BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC
Free blood pressure screenings are offered monthly the first Wednesday between 10-11 am. No appointment is necessary.
FREE DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOANS
Short-term loans of medical equipment such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, bath benches, assistive devices, etc. are available through BASCC. Donations of clean, usable equipment are accepted.
FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
Our “Ask the Attorney” service with attorney, Chuck Lillie, offers free legal counseling. Appointments can be made for the third Tuesday of each month, from 2:45-3:45 pm. Fifteen-minute appointments begin at 2:45 pm with the last one at 3:30 pm. Please sign up no later than the Friday before.
MEDICARE/MEDICAID COUNSELING
BASCC and the Area Agency on Aging 1B have partnered to offer Medicare/Medicaid and Prescription Drug Counseling the first Tuesday each month. Forty-five minute appointments are available between 10:30 am–1:30 pm.
MINOR HOME REPAIR AND YARD SERVICES
Must income qualify
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides funds so that Beverly Hills seniors living in their own homes can have yard service and minor repairs done to their homes. CDBG funds provide Birmingham seniors with yard service. Birmingham seniors receive assistance with minor home repairs through the Birmingham Foundation for Senior Residents. The Foundation also provides interest-free loans for major repairs.

TELEPHONE REASSURANCE
Volunteers call homebound seniors each weekday morning to check on their well-being. Seniors wanting this service should call BASCC.
TRANSPORTATION
Donation: $2.00/One way; $3.00/Round trip
Transportation is provided for residents of the Birmingham School District to and from physicians’ offices in the Birmingham School District, Wm. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, Pontiac, and Henry Ford Medical Building, Troy as well as to area supermarkets.
